Professional Engineer / Technologist – Road Design

About the role

We are looking for a Professional Engineer / Technologist to lead the geometric design of road projects in Durban. The role involves using advanced Bentley OpenRoads tools to produce high‑quality design deliverables and support multidisciplinary project teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop technical geometric designs for road and highway projects using Bentley OpenRoads and CAD.
• Make independent design decisions and ensure deliverables meet time and cost targets.
• Organise project information, communicate design intent through drawings and reports.
• Train and supervise technicians, junior staff, and review their work.
• Draft technical reports, respond to bid queries and support commercial aspects.
• Conduct site inspections to verify compliance with design specifications.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, develop plans and manage project timelines.
• Identify resource needs, recruit additional staff or consultants as required.

Required profile

• Advanced experience with Bentley OpenRoads software.
• Strong understanding of road geometric design principles.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication skills for presenting technical work and interacting with clients.
• Proven ability to train and supervise junior team members.
