Senior Accountant

About the role

The Senior Accountant will lead the general ledger function and oversee month‑end and year‑end closing processes to ensure accurate financial reporting. This role supports the broader accounting team, maintains compliance with regulatory standards, and contributes to effective financial control across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Record transactions, update general ledgers, and manage accounts receivable/payable in line with company policies.
• Oversee the full AR cycle, including invoicing, payment follow‑ups, credit control and reconciliation of customer accounts.
• Supervise and provide hands‑on support to GL, Treasury, AR and AP teams.
• Manage cash flow, ensuring timely collections, disbursements and payment arrangements.
• Prepare and analyse financial statements, balance sheets, income statements and cash flow reports.
• Ensure accurate and timely month‑end and year‑end closing activities.
• Coordinate with internal departments to enforce procurement, payment and claims processes.
• Assist internal and external auditors, prepare audit schedules and respond to inquiries.
• Prepare and review tax returns in accordance with local regulations.
• Support annual budgeting and periodic forecasting activities.

Required profile

• Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA, MIA) or a recognised bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a senior accounting role.
• Experience in auditing is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, regulatory requirements and corporate finance.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and organisational abilities.
• Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia, both written and spoken.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
