Chief Engineer

About the role

The Chief Engineer leads the engineering department of Four Seasons’ exclusive resort on Desroches Island, ensuring all technical systems operate safely, efficiently and to luxury standards. This senior position oversees daily operations, preventive maintenance, and major renovation projects across the property.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily engineering operations for 203 guest rooms, five restaurants, bars, spa, pools and back‑of‑house areas.
• Supervise the maintenance of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), HVAC, chiller plant, water systems and related equipment.
• Execute the preventive maintenance program via HotSOS, meeting compliance targets and minimizing equipment downtime.
• Oversee timely completion of guest‑room, public‑area and facility maintenance requests in line with Four Seasons response standards.
• Coordinate renovation and refurbishment projects, reviewing technical specifications, managing contractors and ensuring minimal operational disruption.
• Control the Engineering Department’s OPEX budget in partnership with the Director of Engineering.
• Ensure all contractors and service providers comply with hotel safety procedures, quality standards and permit requirements.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in hotel or resort engineering management, preferably in a luxury environment.
• Proven ability to lead a multidisciplinary engineering team and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong understanding of preventive maintenance systems and budget control.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and a commitment to delivering uninterrupted guest service.
