Painter

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Painter to support a U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves preparing surfaces, applying paints and coatings, and performing finishing work on buildings, equipment, and other facilities to preserve government assets.

Key responsibilities

• Perform surface preparation, rust removal, and debris cleaning using hand tools, pneumatic tools, grinders, and sanders.
• Apply primers, paints, coatings, and sealants with brushes, rollers, and spray equipment according to technical instructions.
• Support corrosion‑control activities such as chipping, scraping, sanding, masking, and coating.
• Maintain cleanliness, readiness, and accountability of tools, PPE, materials, and equipment.
• Set up, stage, contain, and clean work areas to ensure safe, compliant operations.
• Document material usage, logs, and basic preservation records.
• Communicate progress, issues, and safety concerns to supervisors.

Required profile

• 1‑3 years of experience in painting, preservation, coatings, or corrosion control.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid passport with at least one year beyond hire date and ability to obtain required visas.
• Ability to meet contract medical requirements and obtain facility credentials.
• Proficiency in English sufficient to follow technical instructions.
