Stationary Engineer

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Stationary Engineer to support a critical U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves operating, maintaining, and repairing a range of stationary equipment to ensure safe and efficient utility services.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain stationary engines and mechanical equipment such as steam boilers, air compressors, generators, and HVAC systems.
• Monitor equipment performance through daily readings, adjustments, and troubleshooting.
• Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, repairs, and part replacements on boilers, pumps, refrigeration units, and compressors.
• Start, stop, regulate, and monitor power generation and distribution systems, including chilled water, fuel, and steam systems.
• Maintain and troubleshoot air handling units, chillers, cooling towers, and associated controls.
• Conduct inspections and follow preventative maintenance schedules to reduce breakdowns.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, local laws, and U.S. government/military regulations.
• Document equipment performance, maintenance activities, and repairs using logs and work orders.
• Respond promptly to emergencies, making necessary adjustments and repairs.
• Assist in planning upgrades or replacements of aging equipment to meet modern efficiency and safety standards.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience operating, maintaining, and repairing stationary engines and mechanical equipment.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications in stationary engineering are highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and control systems for power generation and utility distribution.
• Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems effectively.
• Familiarity with safety procedures and government regulations for stationary systems.
• Proficiency in maintaining equipment logs and using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Fluent English reading, speaking, and comprehension to meet contract requirements.
