Freight Terminal Manager

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Freight Terminal Manager to support a unique U.S. Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The role oversees all freight terminal operations, ensuring compliance with U.S. Navy, Department of Defense, and logistics standards in a remote, high‑tempo environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily cargo handling activities, coordinating inbound and outbound freight movements.
• Lead and supervise terminal personnel, set work priorities, and align staffing, equipment, and resources with mission requirements.
• Oversee cargo documentation, inventory control, and material handling equipment usage.
• Ensure compliance with safety, security, and quality standards, including ACP 129 and MIL‑STD procedures.
• Coordinate with air, sea, and ground transportation partners and resolve operational issues.
• Support inspections, audits, and prepare reports for leadership and stakeholders.

Required profile

• Minimum of 5 years experience in stevedore operations, freight terminal operations, logistics management, or transportation operations.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid passport with at least one year beyond hire date and ability to travel internationally.
• Ability to pass contract medical requirements and maintain facility credentials.

Required skills

• Operational experience with ACP 129 and Visual Signaling Procedures.
• Knowledge of MIL‑STD 129F Military Standard Marking for Shipment and Storage.
• Familiarity with MILSTAMP Vol 1 & II Military Standard Transportation Procedures.
• Working knowledge of cargo handling procedures, freight documentation, and terminal operations.
