First Engineer – Marine Vessel

About the role

The First Engineer is responsible for daily management of the engine room and execution of all technical operations aboard Aqua Lares. Acting as the primary deputy to the Chief Engineer, this role ensures safe, efficient performance of mechanical and electrical systems and maximises vessel uptime.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain main engines, generators, HVAC and electrical systems.
• Supervise and manage the engineering crew, including night‑shift scheduling.
• Monitor fuel and water consumption to optimise efficiency.
• Maintain accurate engineering records and reports.
• Coordinate vessel repairs, dry‑dock periods and routine maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company policies.
• Maintain inventory of spare parts and supplies.
• Verify that all safety equipment related to engineering is functional.

Required profile

• STCW III/2 (Unlimited) certification.
• Valid Seafarer’s Medical Certificate.
• STCW Basic Safety Training Certificate.
• Additional certificates such as Marine Electrical Systems or Engine Room Resource Management.
• 3‑5 years of experience in a similar marine engineering position.
• Fluent English communication.
• Strong technical knowledge of marine engineering systems.
• Proven problem‑solving, analytical, leadership and organisational abilities.
