Marine Sandblaster / Painter

About the role

Amentum is looking for a Marine Sandblaster / Painter to support a US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves preparing, restoring, and finishing interior and exterior surfaces of marine vessels, equipment, and facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Perform abrasive blasting, sandblasting, sanding, scuffing, scraping, wire‑brushing and grinding to prepare surfaces.
• Remove rust, corrosion, old coatings and marine growth from metal and structural components.
• Apply primers, sealers, paints, stains, varnishes, enamels, epoxies and specialty marine coatings using brushes, rollers or spray equipment.
• Mask surrounding areas, protect equipment, and use drop cloths, plastic sheeting and tape.
• Fill cracks, holes and surface imperfections with approved fillers.
• Remove and reinstall fixtures, hardware and lighting components as needed.
• Waterproof structures with approved membranes, sealants and caulking.
• Inspect finished work for compliance with quality and coating specifications.

Required profile

• Ability to read work orders, technical drawings and specifications.
• Experience working safely from ladders, scaffolding or elevated platforms.
• Commitment to environmental, health and safety regulations.
