About the role
The 3rd Engineer is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the engine room on Aqua Expeditions’ vessels. Reporting to the 1st Engineer and Chief Engineer, this position executes planned maintenance and ensures all mechanical and electrical systems run within safety parameters.
Key responsibilities
- Execute maintenance and repair of auxiliary engines, pumps, purifiers, and sewage treatment plants.
- Maintain a vigilant engine‑room watch, responding promptly to alarms and technical irregularities.
- Monitor fuel, lube oil, and water levels, ensuring accurate soundings and efficient consumption.
- Assist in keeping precise engine‑room logs, maintenance records, and inventory updates.
- Verify that safety equipment, emergency shut‑offs, and fire‑fighting systems are fully operational.
- Manage spare‑part and tool inventories to support timely repairs.
- Follow MARPOL regulations and company environmental policies during all operations and bunkering.
Required profile
- Valid STCW III/1 certification (Officer in Charge of an Engine).
- Experience in marine engine‑room operations and watch‑keeping.
- Understanding of safety and environmental regulations applicable to vessels.
