Engineering Surveyor

About the role

The Engineering Surveyor will plan and execute topographic surveys, develop digital terrain models and establish survey control systems to support design and construction activities. The role also includes technical support for survey‑control compliance, construction progress reporting, quantity measurement and quality assurance.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate engineering land surveys and collate existing survey data.
• Conduct ground surveys to create digital terrain models (DTM) and establish survey ground controls.
• Perform survey control levelling, post‑process survey data and train junior personnel.
• Inspect traffic accommodation and environmental compliance, reporting findings.
• Verify designs, produce digital design models, confirm setting‑out data and suggest design amendments.
• Liaise with contractors, client representatives and third‑party authorities, preparing data and presentations.
• Carry out quantity measurements, prepare interim payment certificates and assist with quality control.
• Draft contractor instructions, maintain documentation and monitor construction progress.

Required profile

• Honours Degree or B‑Tech in Land Surveying.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
• Strong numeracy and financial management abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Experience with Autodesk Civil 3D, Model Maker and Road Maker.
• Skilled use of drones for surveying.
• Competence with GPS/GNSS survey equipment.
