Assistant Sommelier

About the role

Constance Ephelia, a luxury resort in Seychelles, is looking for an Assistant Sommelier to support the Head Sommelier in delivering exceptional wine and beverage service to discerning guests.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in selection, procurement and management of wine and beverage inventory, ensuring optimal stock levels and rotation.
• Provide knowledgeable wine recommendations and execute precise food‑and‑wine pairings for restaurant and private dining events.
• Maintain detailed records of tastings, guest preferences and sales data using the POS system.
• Support wine training programmes for front‑of‑house staff and conduct guest tastings and educational sessions.
• Collaborate with the culinary team to develop seasonal wine lists and special beverage programmes.

Required profile

• Proven experience in an Assistant Sommelier or similar wine service role within a fine‑dining or luxury hospitality setting.
• Comprehensive knowledge of wine regions, varietals, production methods and food‑wine pairing principles.
• Fluency in English; additional languages such as French, German or Mandarin are highly desirable.
• Wine certification (WSET Level 2 or higher, or Court of Master Sommeliers) and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Proficiency with point‑of‑sale (POS) systems and beverage management software.
• Strong organisational and inventory management abilities.
