Customer Experience Executive

About the role

The Customer Experience Executive will provide front‑line insurance and banking services to walk‑in retail customers, ensuring accurate cash handling and exceptional service. This position is part of Absa’s commitment to empower Africa’s future through reliable, customer‑focused banking.

Key responsibilities

• Dispense and receive cash, cheques, travellers’ cheques, drafts and other financial instruments at the counter.
• Verify all transaction details (date, ID, amount, validity) in line with bank procedures before processing.
• Process foreign‑currency travellers’ cheques, issuing or cashing as required.
• Refer transactions exceeding teller limits or any concerns to the Team Leader or Branch Coordinator.
• Capture every transaction in the bank’s system and obtain proper authorisation.
• Count cash accurately, reconcile tills at start and end of day, and manage cash evacuation.
• Handle end‑to‑end banking hall duties such as mailing, cheque‑book and statement processing.
• Identify opportunities to refer customers to specialist sales or advisory teams.
• Own and resolve customer queries and complaints promptly.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and a zero‑tolerance attitude towards teller errors.
• High level of integrity and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
• Excellent customer‑service mindset with the ability to manage difficult situations.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced retail banking environment.

Required skills

• Cash handling and accurate counting.
• Proficiency with the bank’s transaction processing system.
• Basic knowledge of cheque verification and foreign‑currency instruments.
