Dispatcher (Transportation)

About the role

The Transportation Dispatcher will support a U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia by coordinating the timely dispatch of government‑owned and rental vehicles. Working closely with transportation operators, the role ensures that all trips meet strict scheduling, safety and documentation requirements while providing excellent service to U.S. Government personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Dispatch vehicles and equipment for scheduled and unscheduled trips, meeting a 15‑minute response window during normal hours and a two‑hour window after hours.
• Inspect vehicles and equipment at checkout and return, record any discrepancies, and complete required NAVFAC forms and daily checklists.
• Maintain accurate logs of vehicle usage, mileage, and maintenance needs.
• Communicate trip details, vehicle assignments and special instructions to operators.
• Monitor fleet availability to optimize utilization and report unresolved issues for repair.
• Enforce transportation policies and safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment.
• Provide customer service by addressing scheduling questions and resolving transportation concerns promptly.
• Perform additional duties as assigned that align with the position’s scope.

Required profile

• 1–3 years of experience in dispatching, transportation coordination, or logistics services.
• Ability to follow occupational safety and health standards and use personal protective equipment.
• Strong attention to detail for vehicle inspections and documentation.
• Effective communication skills with operators and government personnel.
