Horticulturist

About the role

Constance Ephelia, a luxury resort in Seychelles, is seeking an experienced Horticulturist to maintain and enhance its extensive tropical gardens and landscaped areas. You will lead horticultural operations, ensure plant health, and support the resort’s sustainability goals.

Key responsibilities

• Cultivate, propagate and maintain a diverse range of tropical and subtropical plants, flowers and trees.
• Design, plan and implement landscape projects that improve guest experience and environmental quality.
• Monitor plant health, diagnose and treat diseases, pests and nutritional deficiencies using conventional and organic methods.
• Manage irrigation systems and water‑conservation practices.
• Conduct soil analysis and apply appropriate amendments and fertilisation programmes.
• Oversee maintenance of garden beds, pathways, water features and other landscaped areas.
• Supervise and train horticultural staff, ensuring health, safety and best‑practice compliance.
• Maintain detailed records of plant inventory, maintenance schedules and horticultural activities.

Required profile

• Extensive knowledge of tropical and subtropical plant species suited to island climates.
• Proven experience in garden design, landscape management and horticultural maintenance.
• Strong understanding of plant propagation, cultivation techniques and soil science.
• Expertise in pest and disease management using integrated pest management principles.
• Experience operating and maintaining irrigation systems.
• Ability to supervise and train horticultural teams.
