Material Control Specialist

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Material Control Specialist to support a U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role focuses on stock control, inventory management, material sorting, retrograde, and warehousing for a critical defense contract.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate materials for retrograde, issue, repackaging, storage, disposal, or shipment to designated locations.
• Prepare shipments, including blocking, bracing, crating, and palletizing for truck or air movement.
• Identify materials by proper military class of supply and maintain traceable records from receipt to issue.
• Verify received materials against shipping and invoicing documents, recording discrepancies or damage.
• Inspect stored items for deterioration, document conditions, and arrange disposal when needed.
• Perform additional duties consistent with the position’s level and nature.

Required profile

• Minimum four (4) years of military and/or civilian logistics experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate’s Degree in logistics or management is preferred.
• Valid passport with at least one year of validity and ability to obtain required visas.
• Ability to pass contract medical requirements and maintain facility credentials.

Required skills

• Knowledge of asset management, warehouse processes, and distribution administration.
• Experience with cargo documentation and logistical movement control.
• Ability to analyze logistics management information system reports.
• Experience operating Material Handling Equipment (MHE) is preferred.
