About the role
The Payment Officer will join the Commercial Operations team under the COO at Absa (Seychelles) Ltd. The role supports the delivery of strategic objectives across Corporate & Investment Banking, Retail Banking, Treasury and Markets, embedding customer centricity and sustainability into daily operations.
Key responsibilities
- Execute all approved incoming and outgoing customer payment instructions accurately and within agreed timelines.
- Process and capture approved vouchers, manage day‑to‑day payment processing activities and handle related enquiries and complaints.
- Perform reconciliations of processed payments and Commercial Operations suspense accounts.
- Conduct call‑backs and call‑over checks to verify authenticity of payment instructions and mitigate fraud risk.
- Ensure compliance of Trade Finance and Working Capital transactions with ICC guidelines (UCP, URC, URDG, ISP98).
- Provide high‑quality customer service in line with service level agreements, including mailing payment advice and dormancy letters.
- Capture transactions and maintain records using the UT Teller system, opening and maintaining customer accounts as required.
Required profile
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a flexible, centralised operations function.
- Commitment to upholding Absa values and delivering operational excellence.
Required skills
- Proficiency with the UT Teller system for transaction capture and account management.
