Professional Engineer/Technologist – Roads & Highways

About the role

We are seeking a seasoned Professional Engineer/Technologist to lead design and delivery of roads and highways projects. The successful candidate will drive technical excellence, mentor junior staff, and ensure projects meet quality, schedule, and budget targets.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain high‑quality design outputs using CAD and related software.
• Draft technical reports of excellent technical and presentational quality.
• Provide technical solutions, own deliverables, and ensure timely completion within budget.
• Supervise and delegate tasks to junior technical staff, checking their work for accuracy.
• Estimate resources, manage project expectations, and conduct quality assurance throughout the project lifecycle.
• Prepare and submit EOIs, RFQs, tenders and proposals for large infrastructure projects.
• Inspect constructed works for compliance with design specifications.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously and build key business relationships.

Required profile

• B.Eng or B.Tech degree from an accredited university.
• Professional registration with ECSA.
• 10+ years post‑graduate experience in transportation, municipal services, water or sewerage infrastructure design and implementation.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work under pressure.
