Cement Mason – US Navy Program

About the role

Amentum is seeking a skilled Cement Mason to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. You will work on small construction, remodeling, and renovation projects, ensuring high‑quality masonry work while adhering to strict safety and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a safe workplace and comply with all Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements.
• Repair, maintain, and alter buildings, including mixing mortar, laying bricks, and constructing concrete sidewalks.
• Perform concrete finishing tasks such as smoothing surfaces, shaping expansion joints, and applying colored or textured finishes.
• Use hand and power tools (floats, trowels, screeds, power trowels, pneumatic tools) to level, finish, and repair concrete structures.
• Install and repair tile floors, construct steps and stairways, and carry out incidental carpentry work.
• Prepare and submit detailed project reports for management.
• Perform other duties as assigned that align with the position’s scope.

Required profile

• Minimum three (3) years of comparable masonry experience or trade‑school training in concrete repair and new construction.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, multi‑task environment with changing priorities.
• Cross‑cultural sensitivity and an international perspective.
• Strong organizational and time‑management abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Required skills

• Masonry and concrete mixing.
• Bricklaying and concrete sidewalk installation.
• Concrete finishing (troweling, floating, screeding, power troweling).
• Use of hand tools and power tools, including pneumatic equipment.
• Tile installation and basic carpentry related to masonry work.
• Preparation of detailed project documentation.
