Grounds Crew Leader

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Grounds Crew Leader to manage a dedicated team responsible for maintaining improved grounds, operational areas, and stormwater drainage systems for a unique U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role ensures that all outdoor spaces meet appearance, functionality, and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and lead a grounds crew in daily maintenance of landscaped areas and operational zones.
• Develop and execute schedules for mowing, trimming, pruning, weeding, planting, mulching, and watering.
• Inspect and maintain stormwater drainage systems, addressing debris and blockages promptly.
• Respond to service orders, ensuring timely completion of all maintenance tasks.
• Operate and maintain landscaping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and related machinery safely.
• Coordinate equipment repairs to minimize downtime.
• Monitor ground conditions, identify enhancements, and ensure compliance with appearance standards.
• Train crew members on equipment use, safety protocols, and seasonal maintenance procedures.
• Communicate work plans and progress with project managers and government representatives.
• Maintain accurate records of schedules, service orders, equipment usage, and crew activity.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or a related field.
• At least one year of supervisory or leadership experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Hands‑on experience with landscaping techniques and operation of grounds‑maintenance equipment.
