Marine Engineer – US Navy Program

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Marine Engineer to support a unique U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves designing, analyzing, constructing, maintaining, and repairing marine vessels and systems while ensuring compliance with standards and contractual requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research, testing, and evaluations for vessel design and modification.
• Develop engineering calculations, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Prepare technical reports, design analyses, and system diagnostic documents.
• Present engineering concepts and design recommendations to stakeholders.
• Utilize engineering design software to create and review vessel designs.
• Oversee engineering activities throughout construction, modification, and repair projects.
• Monitor project schedules, budgets, and milestones.
• Perform quality control inspections, acceptance testing, and maintenance support.
• Investigate equipment failures and conduct root‑cause analyses.
• Support audits, inspections, and customer technical reviews.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of four years of experience in marine engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience with engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Rhino 3D, or SOLIDWORKS.
