Port Control Tower Watch

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Port Control Tower Watch to support a critical U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role ensures safe, efficient, and orderly harbor operations by coordinating vessel movements, assigning docking locations, and maintaining navigable waterways.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate safe movement of vessels entering, departing, and operating within the harbor.
• Assign docking berths and mooring spaces for commercial, government, and recreational vessels.
• Monitor harbor traffic and maintain navigable channels.
• Operate marine communication systems and maintain continuous contact with vessel operators and harbor personnel.
• Record and track all vessel arrivals, departures, and movements.
• Assist in enforcing local marine ordinances and harbor regulations.
• Facilitate emergency assistance requests related to marine operations.
• Maintain accurate harbor logbooks, operational records, and reports.
• Supervise inspection and maintenance of navigational aids such as markers, buoys, and floats.
• Prepare and submit requisitions for equipment, supplies, and maintenance needs.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum four years of experience in law enforcement, marine conservation, marine construction, marine transportation, marine maintenance, commercial fishing, or service as a merchant mariner/U.S. Navy seaman.
• Thorough knowledge of harbor operations and marine facility maintenance.
• Ability to work on-site in a remote island environment.

Required skills

• Experience operating and maintaining harbor navigation aids (markers, buoys, floats).
