About the role
The Recreation Supervisor leads daily fishing and recreational activities, ensuring safe, engaging, and high-quality experiences for guests. This hands-on role blends expert angling knowledge with staff leadership, guest interaction, and operational coordination in an outdoor hospitality setting.
Key responsibilities
- Design, lead, and supervise boat-based, fly-fishing, and beginner fishing programs, including excursions, tournaments, demonstrations, and workshops.
- Provide expert guidance on techniques, equipment, bait selection, local species, and conservation practices while ensuring compliance with regulations and sustainability standards.
- Supervise, train, and schedule recreation staff such as fishing guides and instructors; conduct daily briefings to maintain service standards.
- Manage inventory and maintenance of fishing gear, boats, and safety equipment.
- Enforce health, safety, and risk-management procedures at all times.
- Serve as primary contact for guest inquiries, deliver personalized fishing experiences, handle feedback, and promote participation.
- Maintain activity schedules, attendance logs, incident reports, and assist with budgeting, procurement, and cost control.
- Prepare routine reports on participation, equipment condition, and program performance.
Required profile
- Proven experience in recreational (saltwater) fishing, including guiding or instruction.
- 2–4 years in recreation, outdoor activities, or hospitality; at least 1 year in a supervisory role preferred.
- Strong knowledge of fishing equipment, techniques, local marine or freshwater species, and safety practices.
- Relevant certifications such as boating safety, first aid, CPR, or lifeguarding are an advantage.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and customer-service abilities.
