Resident Engineering Geologist

About the role

The Resident Engineering Geologist will lead geological investigations and provide geotechnical expertise to support infrastructure and construction projects. This role involves on‑site field work, data analysis, and close collaboration with design and construction teams.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct field mapping, borehole logging and geotechnical sampling.
• Supervise drilling operations and in‑situ testing.
• Analyze stratigraphy and hydrogeology to inform design decisions.
• Coordinate geophysical surveys and evaluate data for foundation design.
• Perform slope stability and rock‑mechanics assessments.
• Interpret laboratory and field test results and identify geotechnical hazards.
• Provide geological input to structural and civil designs and recommend mitigation measures.
• Advise during excavation and foundation preparation, monitor conditions, and conduct inspections.
• Update risk assessments, support change management when ground conditions vary, and implement risk‑control strategies.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, participate in audits, and maintain documentation and traceability.
