Firefighter

About the role

The Firefighter protects lives and property by responding to fires, vehicle accidents, natural disasters and hazardous material incidents. This role involves rapid decision‑making, physical endurance and teamwork in high‑stress environments.

Key responsibilities

• Perform search, rescue and fire‑fighting operations for fires, accidents, floods, bomb incidents and dangerous substance spills.
• Operate emergency response vehicles, hand and power tools, ladders, hoses, pumps, foam generators and various nozzles.
• Connect hoses to hydrants and pump apparatus, manage water‑charged lines of different sizes.
• Conduct salvage and overhaul to minimise damage.
• Participate in station drills, emergency‑procedure training and hazardous‑materials response.
• Maintain equipment and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Minimum one year of fire‑fighting experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
• Physical ability to perform interior structural firefighting (OSHA 1910.156).
• Willingness to work long hours in remote or adverse conditions.

Required skills

• Emergency vehicle operation.
• Fire pump, foam generator and nozzle operation.
• Hand and power tool use for ventilation and rescue.
• Hazardous‑materials response procedures.
• Firefighter certifications (IFSAC, DOD, Pro‑Board – Fire Fighter II, Hazardous Materials Operations, ARFF optional).
• Driver Operator Pumper/ARFF/MWS certification and valid driver’s licence.
