Fire Crew Chief – Lead Firefighter for Resource Protection

About the role
The Fire Crew Chief leads a fire crew to deliver high‑quality resource protection and fire‑fighting support for structural, aircraft and other hazardous operations. This role operates under Department of Defense, contract and NFPA standards, often in remote or challenging environments.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as the lead crew member on‑site, directing fire‑suppression, rescue and prevention activities.
- Ensure fire‑fighting personnel, vehicles and equipment are operational and ready.
- Control fire attack, confinement, salvage, overhaul, ventilation and rescue operations.
- Assess and document emergency scene conditions and report to supervisors.
- Maintain fire‑fighting equipment, fire station and surrounding grounds.
- Resolve minor administrative and personnel issues; refer major matters to senior officers.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required profile
- Minimum six (6) years of experience in fire services.
- Associate’s degree in fire science management, emergency management, public administration or related field preferred.
- Certifications: Fire Fighter I & II, Fire Officer I, Fire Inspector I, Fire Instructor I, HazMat Operations, Airport Fire Fighter (if applicable), Hazardous Materials Incident Commander.
- First Responder and CPR qualification preferred.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
- Fluent English reading, writing and speaking for interpreting codes, plans and writing reports.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
