Assistant Chief Engineer – Hotel Operations

About the role

We are looking for an Assistant Chief Engineer to support the Chief Engineer in managing the engineering department of a luxury resort. The role ensures all technical systems, plant and equipment operate smoothly while maintaining high standards of guest comfort and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Chief Engineer in daily management and operation of the engineering department, ensuring all hotel systems, plant and equipment are maintained.
• Implement and monitor preventive maintenance programmes, conduct inspections and coordinate corrective maintenance to minimise downtime.
• Supervise, train and allocate tasks to engineering staff, promoting safety, discipline and teamwork.
• Monitor energy and utility consumption, identify efficiency opportunities and support sustainability initiatives.
• Manage external contractors, schedule servicing, verify work quality and ensure compliance with safety procedures.
• Support engineering projects, renovations and equipment commissioning while minimising guest disruption.

Required profile

• Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years of engineering experience in a hotel or resort environment, preferably in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of hotel engineering systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, generators, pumps, water treatment, fire‑life safety).
• Experience with preventive maintenance programmes and maintenance management systems.
• Good command of English; French or Creole an advantage.
