Chief Engineer

About the role

The Chief Engineer leads the Engineering Team of a hotel, ensuring that all facilities operate safely, securely, and efficiently while meeting the highest standards of compliance and guest satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day engineering and maintenance operations, including service standards, equipment schedules, and work orders.
• Coordinate with Housekeeping to prioritize maintenance for guest rooms and public areas.
• Develop and enforce health‑and‑safety procedures for guests, staff, and plant equipment.
• Liaise with government agencies to guarantee statutory compliance.
• Prepare and manage capital and repair‑and‑maintenance budgets.
• Conduct daily inspections, lift emergency releases, and diagnose mechanical issues.
• Lead renovation projects, manage bidding, and supervise contractors.
• Implement energy‑conservation programs and environmentally‑friendly systems.
• Monitor engineering KPIs and drive improvements in productivity and quality.
• Handle all team‑member activities: recruitment, performance management, training, and motivation.

Required profile

• Advanced knowledge of building management and engineering principles.
• Degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Experience with budgeting and basic accounting.
• Strong leadership, communication, and customer‑service orientation.
• Professional grooming standards and a positive, flexible attitude.
