IT Manager

About the role

Kempinski is looking for an IT Manager for its hotel in Baie Lazare, Seychelles. The post manages all local computer technology and services, including networks, hardware, operating systems, anti-virus, internet access, office automation and email, and the software used by front office, back office, sales and catering, personnel, spa and other departments. It also covers network security, compliance, cabling, access control, voice and guest technologies where not the Engineering department's responsibility.

Key responsibilities

• Be the first point of contact for computer-related issues and solve technical or operational problems reported by users.
• Keep equipment in good working order and optimise application performance.
• Monitor 24/7 systems such as front office, point of sale, email and internet, and ensure technical service is always available.
• Ensure regular backups are performed and checked.
• Protect the hotel network, systems and data from intrusion in line with Kempinski standards and applicable laws.
• Maintain IT contingency systems for key business areas and train staff on their use.
• Follow Kempinski policies on computer system security and operation, and set up legal, data protection and PCI compliance requirements.
• Apply security patches regularly and train and maintain backup staff for each server-based application.
• Work with department heads to design procedures that improve profitability, operations and efficiency, and coordinate installation of new applications and software development.
• Implement corporate IT policies, run an annual self-audit, advise on information use, and report IT status, risks and opportunities to Corporate and Regional IT, the General Manager and hotel management.
• Manage relationships with computer vendors and the Corporate IT department, and prepare and control the IT budget.

Required profile

• Bachelor degree or diploma in IT Administration (MISE).
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT and the hospitality industry.
• Experience in hotel systems configuration and administration, and knowledge of service industry operations; equivalent experience is acceptable.
• Excellent English, oral and written, in a multinational environment; another language is beneficial depending on the region.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Kempinski standard systems, Opera PMS, Opera S&C and Micros POS.
• Experience with ORS/SFA/OCIS, MS Office, Windows, LAN and WAN implementation, Novell GroupWise and WatchGuard.
• Guest-facing technologies, telephony and call accounting, facilities and guest service solutions, and HSIA solutions.
