About the role
Amentum is seeking an Assistant Fire Chief of Prevention to lead fire‑prevention efforts for a critical U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role ensures fire safety standards are met, protects personnel and infrastructure, and supports mission‑critical operations.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the Fire Prevention section, ensuring compliance with NFPA regulations and local fire codes.
- Develop, administer, and promote fire‑prevention, protection, and public‑safety education programs.
- Conduct inspections of facilities, equipment, and operations to verify fire‑safety compliance.
- Review construction designs, building plans, and system installations for fire‑code adherence.
- Perform fire‑hazard assessments and recommend corrective or mitigation actions.
- Manage fire investigations, analyze causes, and integrate findings into prevention strategies.
- Supervise a multi‑national team of fire inspectors, handling training, scheduling, and performance management.
- Maintain accurate reports and records on inspections, investigations, and corrective actions.
- Serve as liaison between the fire department, external agencies, and stakeholder groups on fire‑prevention matters.
Required profile
- Minimum three years of experience leading a fire‑prevention section or division of comparable size.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification as Fire Inspector III and Plans Examiner I, or equivalent qualifications.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership abilities.
- Ability to pass contract medical requirements and maintain deployment compliance.
- Valid passport and ability to obtain/maintain facility credentials.
- Proficiency in English sufficient to perform contract duties and follow emergency procedures.
