Kitchen Steward

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Kitchen Steward to join the culinary team at Constance Ephelia, a luxury resort on Mahé, Seychelles. In this permanent role you will ensure the kitchen meets the highest standards of cleanliness, organisation and food‑safety, supporting chefs and front‑of‑house staff to deliver exceptional guest experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain rigorous hygiene and sanitation across all kitchen work surfaces, equipment and storage areas in line with food‑safety regulations.
• Wash, clean and store kitchen equipment, utensils and crockery, ensuring they are ready for service.
• Assist with inventory management of kitchen supplies, cleaning materials and provisions.
• Prepare workstations and verify that all necessary tools are clean and available before each service.
• Carry out routine equipment checks, report faults and perform basic maintenance tasks.
• Dispose of waste and recyclables according to environmental and health‑and‑safety protocols.
• Maintain accurate records of cleaning schedules, equipment maintenance and inventory levels.
• Collaborate with kitchen and front‑of‑house teams to ensure smooth operations.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Kitchen Steward, Kitchen Assistant or similar role in a hospitality setting.
• Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards; food‑safety certification or training is desirable.
• Excellent organisational and time‑management abilities with the capacity to prioritise multiple tasks.
• Physical stamina to perform manual tasks in a fast‑paced kitchen environment.
• Reliability, punctuality and a professional attitude.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts, including weekends and public holidays.

Required skills

• Safe use of cleaning techniques, equipment and chemicals.
