Cluster Director of Engineering

About the role

The Cluster Director of Engineering leads engineering and maintenance across two luxury resort properties, ensuring safe, reliable and efficient operation of all building systems while protecting the guest experience.

Key responsibilities

• Lead preventive and corrective maintenance programmes for guest accommodation, public areas, kitchens, spa facilities, staff areas and back‑of‑house operations.
• Ensure electrical, plumbing, air‑conditioning, water treatment, fire protection and other critical systems operate effectively.
• Respond promptly to urgent faults, coordinate repairs and minimise disruption to guests and operations.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, breakdowns, equipment and contractor work.
• Manage, coach and schedule engineering teams across both properties, allocating staff and resources according to operational needs.
• Collaborate with Rooms, Food & Beverage, Spa, Security, Finance and People & Culture teams.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and fire safety regulations and conduct routine inspections.
• Prepare and manage operating and capital expenditure budgets, oversee refurbishments, equipment replacements and improvement projects.
• Track utility consumption and identify opportunities to reduce energy and water use.
• Prioritise guest‑related maintenance requests and investigate recurring defects to implement lasting solutions.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in Engineering, Facilities Management or a related field.
• Significant engineering or facilities management experience, preferably within luxury hotels or resorts.
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing budgets, contractors and capital projects.
• Strong working knowledge of building systems, preventive maintenance and workplace safety.
• Excellent planning, problem‑solving, communication and leadership abilities.
• Ability to work across two properties and respond to operational emergencies when required.
