Assistant Chief Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an Assistant Chief Engineer to join the engineering team at Constance Ephelia, a luxury resort on Mahé, Seychelles. The role supports the Chief Engineer in maintaining all building, plant and equipment systems to ensure guest comfort and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise repair, maintenance and operation of all engineering assets, acting as the Chief Engineer’s deputy.
• Ensure rapid resolution of defects affecting guest areas and report major breakdowns.
• Oversee plant operations, log readings and manage consumables, services, materials and fuels.
• Manage engineering staff: scheduling, training, performance and grievance handling.
• Maintain cleanliness standards in engineering‑controlled zones.
• Coordinate preventive and routine maintenance, energy‑saving measures and capital works projects.
• Control external contracts, obtain quotations and monitor work quality.
• Maintain spare‑part inventory and comprehensive maintenance records.
• Respond to emergencies, implement safety protocols and ensure compliance with local regulations.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role within a 5‑star international hotel brand.
• At least 5 years of management experience in luxury resort environments.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and administrative abilities.
• Full knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation.
