Head of Grounds and Gardens

About the role

The Head of Grounds & Gardens leads the creation and upkeep of the resort’s outdoor spaces, ensuring that gardens, lawns, beaches, pathways and other public areas consistently reflect luxury standards while embracing sustainability and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, supervise and motivate the Grounds & Gardens team.
• Develop and implement annual and seasonal landscaping plans.
• Maintain lawns, tropical gardens, trees, shrubs, flower beds and ornamental plants to luxury resort standards.
• Ensure guest‑facing outdoor areas are clean, safe and visually outstanding at all times.
• Plan and oversee irrigation, pruning, fertilisation, pest and weed‑control programmes.
• Monitor plant health and recommend replacements or improvements.
• Coordinate with Maintenance on irrigation systems, pathways, lighting and outdoor infrastructure.
• Collaborate with Housekeeping and Front Office to enhance guest experience.
• Manage garden equipment, tools and machinery, ensuring proper maintenance and safe operation.
• Control departmental budgets, inventory and purchasing of plants, fertilizers, chemicals and equipment.
• Promote environmentally responsible practices such as composting, water conservation and waste reduction.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations.
• Train and develop team members and conduct regular inspections for continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Diploma or certification in Horticulture, Landscaping, Agriculture or a related field (preferred).
• Minimum 5 years of landscape or garden management experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Experience in a luxury hotel, resort or botanical garden is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of tropical plants, irrigation systems and landscape maintenance.
• Proven ability to manage teams and departmental budgets.
